Lockerbie NCC HIll Sale Report 2017

The Annual show & sale of North Country Cheviot Hill Rams & Females was held on Wednesday 20th September 2017 at Lockerbie Auction, a new sale centre record of £9000 was achieved for a two shear ram from the home of Messrs Bridgewater & Wood’s Esk flock – Lot 182 Esk Tremor by Whitchesters Salvo was purchased by Cheviot farming Ltd, Elsdonburn.

The show of rams was ably judged by Mr Robert MacDonald, Castle Grant with a tremendous show of both two shear & shearlings to judge he went on to take his champion from the Hethpool pen of W & F Elliot – Lot 71 Hethpool Talisker by Attonburn Grand Slam was later sold for £2800 to join the Greenbank flock of PW & B Iredale. Reserve was from JM Elliot & Partners, Woodside flock, Lot 267 Woodside 7230 by Hartside Hill Pele was purchased for £2000 by Sorbietrees Farm Ltd.

The top price was closely followed by Lot 36 Newbank Thor, a two shear ram by Hethpool Lancer at £8000 who sold in a half share to join the flocks Mr D Baillie, Calla & Messrs E J Fox, Glendale. At £6000 was Lot 181 Esk Toto, first in the ring from the Esk flock, again by Whitchesters Salvo he sold to Philiphaugh Estates. Kelso’s first ram sold for £5500, Lot 92 Kelso Talbot by Elsdonburn Mastermind has joined the Newbank flock of M & S Wilson.
