North Country Cheviot Sheep Society
The 2nd Annual sale of over 250 head of North Country Cheviots was held in Dungannon on Thursday 3rd September with ringside packed to capacity adhering to strict social distancing guidelines.
The sale topper was a Shearling ram from the Glen flock of D & D Robinson Glenarm, Co. Antrim he was sired by Synton Vagabond and the dam was by Hownam Grange Cody, he was purchased for 900gns by A Millar Randalstown Co. Antrim, there was a solid demand for Park type rams throughout sale.
Topping the females at Dungannon was the first Gimmer into the ring from A & P McNeill, Toomebridge Co. Antrim she realised 820gns and went to new breeders William Truesdale and Emma Ogg from Newcastle Co. Down. There was a complete clearance of 29 Park Gimmers which on the day to average £333. The 35 Park Type ewe lambs also had 100% clearance peaking at 350gns 3 times first for a Nisbet Mill Warrior sired ewe lamb from John Graham Kells Ballymena selling to A Millar, Randalstown and then twice A & P McNeill firstly to Orla McAlister Killyman Dungannon and then to N Kearney Dromore Co. Tyrone, ewe lambs averaged £231.

In the crossing end of the sale Cheviot Mule Gimmers topped at £270 for a pen of 8 D & D Robinson, Glenarm selling to John McCrossan Drumquin Co. Tyrone and Cheviot Mule ewe lambs peaked at £202 for a pen of 11 lambs from Allister McNeill Toomebridge selling to Ashley Bowden Stewartstown Co. Tyrone.
