Clitheroe Show & Sale 2022

The Annual Show & Sale of North Country Cheviot Rams & Females took place on Sunday 9th October 2022, judging of both the Hill & Park type sections was undertaken by Gordon Graham, Carruthers.

Champion ram in the Park section was awarded to a 3 shear ram brought out by Kelsocleugh Farming - Synton Angler a Philiphaugh Wrangler son later sold for £525. Reserve Champion came from the same pen, this time a homebred shearling Kelso C 15948 sired by the champion & selling for £735.
Park female champion & reserve were also both from the same home, this time Tom Bell, Hill Top - a four shear ewe previously shown in 2021 she sold for £480 & the reserve a gimmer by Hill Top Big Tom went on to make £500.

Champion Hill ram also belonged to the Kelsocleugh Farming pen, Kelso Bobby a two shear sired by Hethpool Walter selling for £735. Reserve Champion in the hill section went to a shearling from B & J Landers - Cairnsmore Calvin son of North House X 22300 later sold for £336.

Topping the days trading was Sykes Bingo, a Hill two shear from Stephen Robinson, sired by Castle Grant V 04271 selling for  £1785, the same purchaser also bought the next best again from the Robinsons, Sykes Bart this time an Armadale JD son he sold for £1470. The Robinsons took a hagiving them ant trick of top prices receiving £1207.50 for their third into the ring, Skyes Boxer again by the Castle Grant V 04271 sire & giving them an average of £1487.50.

Next best came for a park three shear ram, Sebay Adversary sired by Harestone Woohoo from Tom Bell, Hill Top he sold for £1050 & another from this pen Hill Top Celtic made £895.50. Local breeder John Wood, North Valley also received £895.50 for his first in North Valley C 03004 & £840 for North Valley C 03006 V both sired by Pengroes Wolf.

Females met greater demand, with the top prices coming for the prize winners, closely followed by £400 for a shearling from Allison Sandle, Spring Bank.
