Lairg Hill Ram Sale 2022

The Annual Sale of North Country Cheviot Hill Rams took place on Monday 3rd October 2022 at Lairg Auction.

An increased entry of rams was topped by a new breed record of £28000, Attonburn Bonnie Lad, son of the Sorbietrees Viscount purchase from Lockerbie in 2018 jointly with Hartside Hill & out of a homebred ewe from Bob & Becca Rennie sold in a two way split to WN Douglas, Whitehope & W Dunlop & Son, Commonside. The Attonburn pen went on to average a whopping £9350 for six rams sold with the next best at £8000 for Attonburn Blockbuster son of Attonburn Xodus he joins the Balnakiel flock of Andrew Elliot. £7000 was paid for Attonburn Blizzard, a Woodside Wahoo son who was purchased at Lairg in 2019 for £7000, Allan MacDirmid of Coul Estate takes him home. Badanloch Estate purchased Attonburn Braveheart who is bred the same way as their £10000 in Lockerbie earlier this year by Heatherhope Vicious Stu for £6500.

Badanloch Estate were also in the money when £12000 was paid for Badanloch A 12475, a 3 shear & one of the last to be sold by the Armadale Seagull sire, another to join the Coul Estate for Allan MacDirmid. Badanloch A 06898 this time a Suisgill Sumo son sold for £9000 to Achentoul Farms, Achentoul. With Badanloch selling 10 rams to average £3960.

Alan Hutcheon sold his best, Hartside Hill Bronco another son of the Sorbietress Viscount for £8500 to Martyn Cook, Dorrery. Sorbietrees Bruno, a north House reliant son topped the pen for Drew Oliver at £7000 heading to lancashire to join the Marshaw flock of KM & KJ Curwen.

The pen best for North Loch Naver came to £6000 for a Langdale Lets Be Having You son & WN Douglas sold their best for £5500 for a Suisgill Vanguard son to Bob & Becca Rennie, Attonburn.
