The Annual Sale of Park type North Country Cheviot Rams & Females took place on Wednesday 14th September 2022 at Lockerbie Auction,
The Pre-Sale Show of rams was this year judged by well known local breeder Mr Scott Davies, Synton - never an easy job, Scott found his Champion is the pen from Messrs R & T Dun, Gilston Champagne Supernova sired by Overacres Xtreme later went home with the judge for £5500. In 2nd place was Allanshaws Class Act, a Sebay Xcitable son from J Runciman & Son which sold for £4000 to join the Gilston flock.
Topping the ram trade on the day at £6500 was Carruthers C 09726, first in from CR Graham, sired by Allanshaws Aristocrat he joins the Philiphaugh flock, At £4500 Humbleheugh C 25360, a Carruthers Xavi son out of a Humbleheugh ewe by Gospelhall Wiggy from WD Allen heads home to the Kelso flock of Jim Thomson.
A second at £4000, Wandylaw Chance from Diana Walton, sired by Wandylaw Appeal out of a homebred ewe by Overacres Ryan was purchased by CR Graham, Carruthers. Two rams sold for £3800, firstly Synton C 11220 from Scott Davies he heads north to Shetland with E Gragam, Gremista & secondly for Nettlingflat Carling from Andrew Pate this one heading south to Devon with WJ Jordan, Moortown.
Six rams sold for £3500, two from the Sebay flock from JS Baillie, Orkney - Sebay Corona sired by Harestones Woohoo joins the Hope flock of W & S Harries & Rhydhowell flock of D Griffiths jointly & Sebay Cannonball sired again by harestones Woohoo heads back north with A Polson, Smerlie. Synton C 11182 by Wandylaw Talent & Synton C 11186 by Overacres Active sold to S& P Heads & T Hamilton respectively. Wester Calix by Belmaduthy Valentino joins the Swinister flock of R Poleson, Shetland & Hownam Grange C 22800 by Symington Auld Lang Syne goes home to Angelsey with JH Williams, Pengroes.
Females continued to see the strong trade of recent years with demand throughout the sale of all ages.
A smaller entry of ewes was topped by Gemma McCornick, Knockcocher flock at £300. Gimmers reached £850 & £700 for two singles from Scott Davies, Synton both heading home to Northern Ireland for the Ballintogher flock of James & Katherine Rowan. Ewe lambs also reached a top of £700 for Messrs Allen, Humbleheugh, once again heading home to Northern Ireland, this time for the Bridge View flock of Richard Black who also bought the second highest priced ewe lambs from Jenifer Cowan's Hightae flock at £450.
