North Country Cheviot Sheep Society
The Annual Sale of North Country Cheviot Park & Hill type rams took place at Longtown on Wednesday 28th September 2022, with a larger entry of rams than in recent years, demand for quality rams was evident.
Topping the sale at £1900, Humbleheugh C 25368 a Gilston Wallop sired shearling out of a homebred ewe by Soutra Weapon from WD Allen, he joins the Hownam Grange flock of W & J Thomson. The same pen had rams to £900 for Humbleheaugh C 25369 a Gospelhall Wiggy son, £850 for a Soutra Weapon sired shearling Humbleheugh C 25367 & £800 for a Synton Aristocrat son Humbleheugh C 25373.
Next best at £1200 was Synton Cantona sired by the Hightae XTC who was purchased from Lockerbie in 2019 for £5000, he heads home to Wales to join the Penbache flock of Aled Jones. Robbie McCormack sold Croftheads C 00124 son of Overacres The Man out of a homebred ewe by Muirton Picture Perfect for £1100 to Wynholm Estate & Nettlingflat Carlton sired by Synton A 09320 from Andrew Pate joins the Philiphaugh Estate flock for £1000.
Leading the Hill rams was Priesthaugh B 18529 a 2 shear from J Anderson sired by Heatherhope W 14702 & Priesthaugh B 18528 this time a Buchtrig Wizzard son for £600.
136 Rams averaged £401.
