Clitheroe Sale 2023

The Annual Show & Sale of North Country Cheviots took place at Clitheroe Auction on Sunday 8th October 2023, less numbers forward than in previous years but no less quality for judge Mr Alan Cowens who travelled down from Selkirk to do the honours.

He found his Park Champion in Lot 35, a Shearling tup from John Page's Edenhall flock near Penrith, Eden hall Dynamite sired by the homebred Edenhall Belter later sold for £945. Reserve Champion in the Park section was awarded to KO Stones's Shearling Gimmer, Lot 149 from the well know Nun Cote Nook prefix sold for the days top price in the females of £550 & she joins the Newbold flock of Peter Holden in Lancashire.
Hill Champion & Reserve came from the same good home of Melfyn Williams, Anglesey -  Champion was a two shear tup, Pengroes Commander sired by Badanloch Battleship he later sold for £525, in reserve was a three year old ewe sired by Campbells X Rated she joins the Derbyshire based Coldside flock of James Metcalfefor £160.

Top price on the day came for a Three shear Park type tup brought out by TW Bell, Hilltop - Harestone Banjo sired by Allanshaws Xamin stood 1st place in the aged rams & sold to W Mellor for their Spray House flock for £1575, this was followed by a Shearling Hill Type tup from J Landers, Cairnsmore Dynamite sired by Hartside Hill Aaron at £787.50.
