Lockerbie In-Lamb Females Sale 2023

The Annual Show & Sale of North Country Cheviot in lamb females took place at Lockerbie on Saturday 11th February 2023.

The judging was ably handled by welsh breeder, Ben Baker of the BB flock, with a large entry of females forward he was presented with an excellent selection to pick from but eventually found his Park Champion from a terrific entry of sheep from George Milne's Kinaldy flock, a gimmer sired by Achalone Valiant & scanned with twins to Nun Cote Nook Braveheart she later sold for the days top price of £3200 to James Bruce, Box Hill & travels home to Scarborough along with the 1st prize ewe from Innes & Gordon Graham's Carruthers flock. Taking the Reserve Champion spot was the 2nd prize gimmer from the Philiphaugh flock, sired by Hightae Alcatraz & scanned with a single to Carruthers City Lights, she joins the judges BB flock in South Wales for £1800.

George Milne contined his success in the Hill section, taking the Champion & Reserve place with two fantastic gimmers, both sired by Kinaldy Ace of Spades & in lamb to Longoe Bullseye. The champion sold for £800 to Robert Dewey's, Lothocker flock & the reserve joins the Woodside flock of JM Elliot for £750.
Top price in the Hill section was paid for a Kelso gimmer sired by Esk Vince, having stood 3rd in the pre-sale show, she joined the Hownam Grange flock of W & T Thomson for £1000.

A further three sheep were sold to £1000, first was the second place ewe from Philiphaugh Estate, a Synton Van Gogh sired 1 crop ewe scanned with twins to Carruthers City Lights she heads into Derbyshire to the Rivendale flock of Jack Webster. The next two came from the same good home & regular consignor to the sale, Jenifer Cowens Hightae flock, both ewe hoggs sired by Humbleheugh Allen & both head south, firstly to Cornwall for Sam Rogers Granite Steppes flock & next to Derbyshire again but this time with a regular purchaser from this sale, James Burton, Ilamtops.
