NSA Builth Ram Sale 2023

A much reduced entry of 104 Park & 7 Hill Type forward for the 2023 NSA sale at the Royal Welsh Showground. A busy ringside throughout the sale with trade consistent but steady, a pleasing clearance of 87% with fewer highs but a level trade at commercial money from £300 – £500.

The pre sale show was judged by Mr Bob Williams, Fron Felen Fawr, Henllan (Park type) and Mr George Irving, Benger, Selkirk (Hill Type). Topping the sale at £1890 was the Overall Park Champion from Messrs H Cockburn & Partners,Kingside, Peebleshire who was purchased over the phone by Mr A Pate, Nettlingflat, Midlothian. The Kingside pen although last but one through the ring, attracted plenty of interest and keen bidding with others selling to £945, £892.50 and £735 (x2). The Reserve Park champion, 1st place ram from within Wales and Winner of the Williams & Goodwin Cup again went to Mr A.D Jones, Penbache selling at £525.

Both Messrs AT & PR Jones, Clytha and Messrs J & T Burston, Tillington sold to £735, with a further 9 tups at £630, with most business done between £300 - £500.

Hill Type tups topped at £735 for 1st prize and Champion Hill, a 2 shear from AT & PR Jones, Clytha. Both G. Hughes, Glan Ithon and G Price, Cymraeg sold to £525.

A small number of Park females sold very well, topping at £630 for a 3 crop ewe from Messrs Cockburn, Kingside and purchased by B Baker, BB. Yearling ewes sold to £441 from Messrs N & CM Barra:, WJ. A pair of ewe lambs from Mr M Holmes, Winterdyne sold well at £262.50 & £252.
