Northern Ireland Club Show & Sale 2024

The Annual Show and Sale of North Country Cheviot's was held on behalf of the Northern Ireland Club on Friday 6th September 2024 at Beatties Livestock Centre, Omagh.

The pre-sale show was ably judged by Mr Alan Cowens, Philiphaugh who preceeed to find his Champion ram from Norman Robinson's Benrafton flock, Lot 158 Benrafton Easy Money, a Allanshaws Xanthus son stood out from the crowd in the judging ring and later sold for the top price of £3990. Reserve Champion came from well known breeder Allister McNeil, Lot 183 Kilvaddy Everest another Allanshaws son, this time Allanshaws Bombay finds his new home with Michael Johnston, Largy for £1680.

Two rams sold over the two thousand pound mark, first Lot 186 from Murnion Livestock - Castleview Evo sired by Allanshaws Xriphone received £2940 and secondly, Lot 164 Carradoo Glebe Eisenhower a son of Allanshaws Blondie from William Rankin sold for £2520. Next at £1995 came Lots 141 and 177, Summerhill Elderado a Wester Certainty son from Norman and Kelly Robinson joins Doorat Farms and Glen Excel sired by Broomhillbank Alert from Desmond Robinson goes to William Rankin's Carradoo Glebe flock who also sold Lot 165 Carradoo Glebe Excalibur again by Allanshaws Blondie for £1680 to William Truesdale.

With only one Hill type ram entrered for the sale, he reached £651 and joins Adreian McSorley's Ardeevin flock.

In total fourteen rams sold above £1000 with a further twelve selling between £500 and £1000, plenty good rams at handy money.

Females

Once again the females met with a big demand, with the top price again going to AJ & NAJ Robinson for their 2nd placed Park Type gimmer, she was also sired by Allanshaws Xanthus and joins the Largy flock of Michael Johnston for £1281. A further two gimmers sold for over a thousand pounds, firstly lot 103 from J & K Rowan, Ballintogher another Allanshaws Xanthus daughter who stood first place in the show also joins the Largy flock at £1050 and lot 108 from Alex Colhoun's Kingarrow flock, sired by Kilvaddy Arthur and out of a dam by Bardnaclavan Victory she realised £1102 and joins Matt Irvine's Laughneagh flock.
