Balmoral Show 2023

The weather held out for the judging of the North Country Cheviot classes at Balmoral Show on Thursday 11th May 2023, in the capable hands of Mr Jonnie Campbell, Bardnaclavan who had travelled from Caithness in Scotland.

The largest entry of Northies seen at Balmoral was brought forward, plenty of new faces in the exhibitors meant competition was strong however a 2 crop ewe brought out by Jack Smyth on behalf of W Rankin, Carradoo Glebe took the eye of the judge, giving her the Champion rosette, an Allanshaws Ewe bought privately 2 years ago as a hogg, she is sired by Allanshaws Will I Am (who was Reserve Champion as a 2 shear at Royal Highland Show in 2019). Confirming his choice she went on to take the Longwool & Overall Interbreed Champion the following day - the first time a North Country Cheviot has ever won this accolade.

In Reserve Champion place, a 4 crop Synton Ewe sired by Allanshaws Special Blend from AJ & NA Robinson, Benrafton who stood in 2nd place to the champion in her class.

RESULTS
