North Country Cheviot Sheep Society
The Hill type North Country Cheviots took all four top tickets in the Any Other Hill Breed classes at this year's Royal Welsh Show, with a great entry of sheep forward from five seperate exhibitors it really does go to show the growth of the breed within Wales.
The judge had a difficult job, with so many different breeds to work through in all the classes but eventually found his Overall & Female Champion in a Shearling Gimmer from Gareth & Catrin Price's Cymraeg flock, a homebred gimmer sired by Cymraeg B 02553 who sold at Lockerbie for £7000 in 2022.
Taking the Reserve Overall & Male Champion place was a shearling tup, McCaig Director sired by the £14000 Mowhaugh Xonorate who was bought privately & used as a lamb & brought out by Melfyn Willaims, Pengroes. Reserve Male Champion was again a Shearling Tup who'd stood 2nd place in the class line up, this time from Gareth & Catrin Price, Cymraeg, he was sired by Newbank Vintage.
Finally the Reserve Female Champion title went to AT & PR Jones, Clytha with their 2nd placed homebred Shearling Gimmer sired by Whitehope A 26838.
Congraulations to all exhibitors.
