Great Yorkshire Show 2024 - Results

The North Country Cheviot classes at the Great Yorkshire Show 2024 took place on the second day - Wednesday 10th July, although the rain didnt manage to stay away the crowds still gathered to watch as judge, Mr George Milne from Kinaldy, Fife made his selection.
Once again, entries were well supported with regular and new exhibitors alike and a wonderful show of young exbititors was pleasing to see.

The Overall Champion came from Jack Webster, Rivendale with a 3 crop Philiphaugh Ewe, who had previously stood 1st in her class at last years Great Yorkshire Show also. Jack purchased her from Lockerbie In Lamb sale as a 2 crop ewe in 2023 for £1000. This is the second year in a row Jack has taken the top honours at the Show, having won it last year with a Tup - a fantastic acheivement for the 19 year old.
Reserve Overall came from another regular at the Great Yorkshire Show - KO Stones, Nun Cote Nook - their 1st placed Homebred Gimmer sired by Allanshaws Brazilian who was shown in the experianced hands of daughters, Annie and Mary.
Male Champion was awarded to a two shear tup, Culsh Distiction shown by Jack Brittain, Brittstone - another Lockerbie purchase in 2023 at £700, this Humbleheugh Xtra Blend sired tup showed himself perfectly.
The remaining top place, Reserve Male Champion, went to R Powell, Rubershaw for his 2nd placed tup Croftheads Colin, a three shear sired by Overacres The man, again purchased from Lockerbie as a shearling in 2022 for £2200.

Group of Three - congratulations to The Stones Family, Nun Cote Nook who took first place in the Group of Three in our classes and went on to win Non MV Champion Group of Three and Reserve Champion Overall Group of Three.
