The Hill classes at the Royal Highland Show took place on Thursday afternoon, when again the weather was kind to us. The judge, Mr William Thomson, Hownma Grange, a well known exhibitor at the show in previous years, enjoyed viewing things from the other side for a chnage and selected his Overall Champion from first time competitors to the Northie classes, George Irving's Benger flock - Benger Tammy, a homebred Shearling Gimmer sired by Benger Dambuster and out of a ewe purchased from the late Tom Kerr's Colony flock.
Overall Reserve honours went to regular exhibitors in the Hill section, WN Douglas, Whitehope for their Three Shear Tup, Gillesbie Class Act, sired by Gillesbie Action and purchased from Lockerbie in 2023 for £2200, the same home also took Reserve Male Champion with a homebred Shearling sired by an Attonburn sire used on loan. Reserve Female Champion was awarded to a homebred three crop ewe from WD Allan, Stouphill, sired by Badanloch Tip Top Tup who was also the sire of their £24000 tup sold in Lairg in 2021, Stouphill Ambassador.
