The Park classes at the Royal Highland Show took place on Thursday 20th June in almost perfect judging conditions for exhibitors. This years judge, Mr Melfyn Williams, Pengroes who'd traveled from Anglesey in North Wales enjoyed his morning and selected his Overall Champion from the well known home of J Runciman & Sons, Allanshaws flock - A homebred Shearling Gimmer sired by Glebefarm Class Act, a tup which was purchased privately from Alfie Shaw, Northern Ireland - she took the top hoours on her show debut no less.

In Overall Reserve stood the Male Champion this time brought out by Philiphaugh Estates, Carruthers City Lights is a three shear tup sired by Allanshaws Aristrocrat who was purchased from Lockerbie in 2022 for £6500. Reserve Female Champion went to W&J Thomson, Hownam Grange for their 2nd placed Shearling Gimmer, Homebred sired by Knockcocher Bodyguard who was purchased from Lockerbie in 2021 for £900 and Reserve Male Champion was a Homebred Tup Lamb from DN Campbell & Sons, Bardnaclavan, sired by Benrafton Drivesmecrazy who was purchased jointly with the Upper Cornquoy flock from Ballymena Sale in 2023 for £4200.

One of the biggest highlights however has to be the number of junior representatives who were bringing out the sheep to the show ring, be it in their own name or for their family - they were all a great credit to us and the breed looks in safe hands for the future with them.
