The judging of the North Country Cheviot Park type classes took place on Tuesday morning at the Royal Welsh Show in the more than capable hands of Mr Ritchie Strawhorn, Broomhillbank who'd made the journey South from Dumfries-shire in the Scottish Borders.

The Overall Champion came from Ben Baker's BB flock, a Shearling Tup - BB Energizer sired by Smerlie Xtreme (who was puirchased from Caithness Sale in 2019 for £2400) and is a twin brother to the Reserve Overall Champion, this time a Shearling Gimmer out of a homebred ewe - these two went on to win the Reserve Interbreed Pairs on Thursday. 
Continuing his successes, Ben also picked up the Reserve Female Champion with his Aged Ewe, a two crop Philiphaugh Ewe sired by Hightae Alcatraz who was purchased in lamb from Lockebie in 2022 for £1800.
Reserve Male Champion was awarded to the Aged Tup from JH Williams, Pengroes - a three shear, Hownam Grange Chosen One sired by Symington Auld Lang Syne (National Show Champion 2022) who was again purchased from Lockerbie in 2022 for £3500.

A tremendous class of gimmers made for great viewing as over 30 where brought out to be judged, congratulations to all exhibitors - it was wonderful to see both young and more experianced breeders side by side in the line ups - particularly in the Tup Lamb class when is was noted there was over 70 years difference between the breeders in 1st and 2nd place. Once again, the future of Northies in Wales looks in safe hands.
