North Country Cheviot Sheep Society
The North Country Cheviot classes were held on the second day of the Balmoral Show, expertly judged by Mr. Alan Simpson from Cairnside, a distinguished breeder from Caithness.
Alan selected his champion from a strong lineup of sixteen gimmers. This homebred gimmer hails from the Benrafton flock of AJ & NA Robinson. She is the daughter of a Bardnaclavan ewe, which was purchased following her remarkable first-place victory at the 2023 Royal Highland Show when she was a gimmer herself, and is sired by Allanshaws ATV.
Reserve Champion originated from the Castleview flock, which is owned by Murnion Livestock. This homebred animal is a three-shear tup named Castleview Diamond, sired by Comeragh Triumph.
Alan remarked that he thoroughly enjoyed his day as a judge at the Balmoral Show and was impressed by the high standard of sheep presented.
