Royal Highland Show 2026 – Park Section

The Park Section classes at this year's Royal Highland Show were expertly judged by a familiar face from the north of Scotland, Danny McCarthy of the Longoe flock.

After working through an outstanding display of sheep, Danny found his Overall Champion and Female Champion in a stylish homebred gimmer from Andrew Polson's Smerlie flock. Sired by Kilvaddy Class Act, she caught the judge's eye from the moment she entered the ring and went on to secure the championship honours.

Standing Reserve Overall Champion and Reserve Female Champion was the exceptional two-crop homebred ewe Peony from W & J Thomson, Hownam Grange. Sired by Knockcocher Bodyguard, Peony has an impressive show record, having won the National Show Championship in 2025 before going on to claim the prestigious Champion of Champions title on the same day.

The Male Champion title was awarded to S & W Heads, Greendale with their impressive two-shear tup Bardnaclavan Fernando. Sired by Benrafton Drivesmecrazy, he was purchased at the Lockerbie sale in 2025 and has continued to go from strength to strength.

The Reserve Male Champion came from the second-placed two-shear tup exhibited by Philiphaugh Estates, Philiphaugh. Hownam Grange Forefront, sired by Gilston Definitely Yes, was another standout Lockerbie purchase from 2025, having been secured for £5,000.
